Congratulations to everyone who was nominated for positions at the Rockland Election Con! We have officially made history, everyone, so be proud! Here are the newly elected members of the BCDYSC!

The First meeting is December 11th from 10-12AM, but where? You'll soon find out. All meetings are open, so as many people that wish to go are welcome to come to the meetings. The first meeting will be combined of LAST YEAR'S MEMBERS AND THIS YEAR'S.
Check out the brand new bcdyouth site! It's still under construction, so in a little bit it will be all done.

September 26, 2004 meeting at the Rockland UU church
::agenda items::
- the electoral process--to be voted on at the rockland election con, basic nomination process, need timekeeper and moderator who do not plan on running for any bcdysc positions to lead the elections, nominations done by position so people have an opportunity to run for another position if they lose their chance.
- mission statement--check user info for this. its brand new!!
- 2 youth at large added to positions available for elections
- 3 missed meetings determines a resignation from the dysc. if one does miss 3 meetings, a waiting list will contain people interested in that position in their absense, the first on the waiting list will be asked first to take over the position.
- friday night of the rockland con will explain the dysc positions in opening circle
- all dysc meetings for next year will be held every second saturday of the month, from 10:30-12:30am, meetingplace to be determined by the dysc. it must rotate each meeting to make travelling easier.
Spontaneous CONbustion featuring dysc elections! November 19-21, 2004 at the Rockland UU Church. Flyer and Registration Form in the making. $21 or $20 and a can of food. - chairperson (runs meetings--keeps the group on task, makes agenda for meetings, makes sure meetings end on time)
- social action coordinator (maintains social action at district conferences, provides a social action table with flyers to educate people, attends the Youth Social Justice Conference to bring issues back to our community, focuses on social action conference in our district)
- spirituality director (brings spiritual short opening and closing to meetings, helps direct worship workshops at conferences, focuses on spirituality development in our district by organizing a district spirtuality con )
- clerk (maintains a treasurer and secretary position, must understand the financial workings of our district, keep track of district funds, take down notes and times of all meetings including who attended)
- communications coordinator (maintain bcdysc website, put together district newsletter, get master list of contacts for conferences)
- junior youth outreach coordinator (attends junior cons in order to bridge the gap and display senior youth leadership for junior youth, encourage youth empowerment to newcomers to senior cons, keep newcomers involved in con activities)
- 2 adults at large (adults serve as encouragement for youth empowerment, represent the advisors and adults involved in youth empowerment)
- 2 youth at large (represent the youth within the ballou channing district at meetings, provide opinions and ideas, support youth empowerment)
there is also the Youth Council Representative which is not up for elections which bridges the gap continentally, and the Youth Ministry Consultant which is not up for elections which is decided by the district which is an adult who represents the district and provides as a resource for the dysc.
again, meetings are open for all youth, young adults and adults to share their opinions, ideas, and information with the steering committee. please come encourage youth empowerment with us!!!

ELECTION CON:
November 5-7, 2004 Channing UU Church of Rockland

Meeting Agenda now that we've had our summer break, it's time that we get down to business. elections are coming up and we need to tie up loose ends like bylaws, and a mission statement.
- do we remember what our official funding was?
- have we looked into websites yet?
- should we just use this as our website to save money?
- when should we schedule trainings/development cons?
Lots to do!! Little time!!

DYSC meeting-June 12, 2004 what we discussed...
- district youth consultant
peter bowden will resign for next year whats the best way to have them attend meetings? how should they work with the dysc?
this item needs to be discussed more at the next meeting
- elections
positions YOU can run for at this fall's elections:
chairperson(agenda for meetings, keep meetings moving) social action coordinator(keep social action in cons and in yruu community, keep people involved) spirituality director(maintain worship at meetings and at cons) clerk(maintains information about funding for the dysc, keeps notes and time of meetings) communications superhero(sets up website, builds and maintains newsletter, keeps communication with other districts) junior youth outreach director(gets junior youth psyched up about senior conferences by going to jr cons, gets junior youth into leadership, helps welcome new yruus into con atmosphere) youth council representative(goes to youth council and represents the bcd youth nationally)((2 year position, NOT up for elections this fall)) 2 adults at large(encourage youth leadership)
- dysc/task force retreat
this date yet to be determined, but this retreat will be a working experience, for the dysc and task force. this is to organize our youth leadership before the next year's dysc is elected. this retreat will be open to everyone, so long as they know that it will be a working retreat. more info to come.
- ways to keep the bcd yruu community still together during the summer

again, meetings are open to any and everyone, so please come and share your opinion. positions on the dysc are for voting on issues and helping to further expand bcd youth leadership.

dysc meeting coming up!!

we'll be discussing...
- outreach program for disconnected youth
- upcoming trainings and conferences hosted by the dysc
- official bylaws/sanctions-only dysc members can vote on this issue
- elections this fall
- possible dysc/task force retreat to prepare for the following year, basically to get stuff out of the way for the next year's steering committee members!

We had a meeting!!! May 15, 2004. We discussed important things such as... -BCD outreach to other churches. A master list of youth groups that need to be built will be posted soon. -newsletters(the DYSC Press) being passed out at CONterculture. -this website! -where to go for lunch -a youth ministry consultant position that will need to be filled in the fall.
the next dysc meeting is in the midst of being planned, but once it is planned, it will be posted!!
