Mission Statement:
The Ballou-Channing District Youth Steering Committee (BCDYSC) is a youth run, district approved committee that promotes and utilizes the 6 components of a balanced youth group, which are, Worship, Community Building, Social Action, Learning, Leadership, and Youth-Adult Relations, as published by the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Youth Office. These are in place to develop and sustain youth empowerment within our district and Young Religious Unitarian Universalist (YRUU) community at large. The BCDYSC provides resources for the BCD YRUU including, congregational, district, and continental outreach. We encourage the development of youth spirituality and the promotion of the 7 UU Principles in all that we do.

What do all those positions mean?
The chairperson runs meetings, keeps the group on task, makes agenda for meetings, and makes sure meetings end on time.

The social action coordinator maintains social action at district conferences, provides a social action table with flyers to educate people, attends the Youth Social Justice Conference to bring issues back to our community, and focuses on social action conference in our district.

The worship coordinator brings spiritual short opening and closing to meetings, helps direct worship workshops at conferences, and focuses on spirituality development in our district by organizing a district spirtuality con.

The clerk maintains a treasurer and secretary position, must understand the financial workings of our district, keeps track of district funds, and takes down notes and times of all meetings including who attended.

The communications coordinator maintains bcdysc website, puts together the district newsletter, gets master list of contacts for conferences, and maintains mailing lists.

The junior youth outreach coordinator attends junior cons in order to bridge the gap and display senior youth leadership for junior youth, encourages youth empowerment to newcomers to senior cons, and keeps newcomers involved in con activities.

2 adults at large serve as encouragement for youth empowerment, and represent the advisors and adults involved in youth empowerment.

2 youth at large represent the youth within the ballou channing district at meetings, provide opinions and ideas, support youth empowerment, and help with delegated tasks.
